Founder & Director, BLUEprint Hoops
A Chicago native, former Division I athlete, and international professional basketball player, Trey Blue founded BLUEprint Hoops with a mission to help young athletes develop the skills, confidence, and opportunities to pursue their basketball potential.
Trey's love for the game started early, with daily work on his first "court": the basement floor of his family's home. That dedication carried him to Thornwood High School, where he earned All-State recognition as a junior and helped lead the Thunderbirds to a fourth-place finish in the IHSA State Finals. He continued his development with a post-graduate year at Brewster Academy, the basketball prep powerhouse in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, before beginning his Division I career at Fordham University in the Atlantic 10, where he broke the program's rookie scoring record in his first game.
He later returned home to play at Illinois State University on scholarship, earning a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Recreation, before completing his collegiate playing career at the University of Vermont while pursuing graduate studies. Following college, Trey played professionally for three teams in three countries, gaining valuable international experience and a deeper understanding of the discipline, preparation, and fundamentals required to succeed at the next level.
As a father and lifelong student of the game, Trey founded BLUEprint Hoops to create meaningful development opportunities for young athletes. His vision continues to shape the organization's approach to coaching, competition, and player growth. Through BLUEprint Hoops' partnership with TRUE BLUE, Trey helps connect Chicago athletes to a broader basketball community and high-level competitive opportunities.
